TB NETBible YUN-IBR Ref. Silang Nama Gambar Himne

Ulangan 13:5

Konteks
13:5 As for that prophet or dreamer, 1  he must be executed because he encouraged rebellion against the Lord your God who brought you from the land of Egypt, redeeming you from that place of slavery, and because he has tried to entice you from the way the Lord your God has commanded you to go. In this way you must purge out evil from within. 2

Ulangan 13:17

Konteks
13:17 You must not take for yourself anything that has been placed under judgment. 3  Then the Lord will relent from his intense anger, show you compassion, have mercy on you, and multiply you as he promised your ancestors.

Ulangan 23:4

Konteks
23:4 for they did not meet you with food and water on the way as you came from Egypt, and furthermore, they hired 4  Balaam son of Beor of Pethor in Aram Naharaim to curse you.

Ulangan 29:13

Konteks
29:13 Today he will affirm that you are his people and that he is your God, 5  just as he promised you and as he swore by oath to your ancestors 6  Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Ulangan 29:18

Konteks
29:18 Beware that the heart of no man, woman, clan, or tribe among you turns away from the Lord our God today to pursue and serve the gods of those nations; beware that there is among you no root producing poisonous and bitter fruit. 7

Ulangan 29:23

Konteks
29:23 The whole land will be covered with brimstone, salt, and burning debris; it will not be planted nor will it sprout or produce grass. It will resemble the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the Lord destroyed in his intense anger. 8

[13:5]  1 tn Heb “or dreamer of dreams.” See note on this expression in v. 1.

[13:5]  2 tn Heb “your midst” (so NAB, NRSV). The severity of the judgment here (i.e., capital punishment) is because of the severity of the sin, namely, high treason against the Great King. Idolatry is a violation of the first two commandments (Deut 5:6-10) as well as the spirit and intent of the Shema (Deut 6:4-5).

[13:17]  3 tn Or “anything that has been put under the divine curse”; Heb “anything of the ban” (cf. NASB). See note on the phrase “divine judgment” in Deut 2:34.

[23:4]  4 tn Heb “hired against you.”

[29:13]  5 tn Heb “in order to establish you today to him for a people and he will be to you for God.” Verses 10-13 are one long sentence in Hebrew. The translation divides this into two sentences for stylistic reasons.

[29:13]  6 tn Heb “fathers” (also in v. 25).

[29:18]  7 tn Heb “yielding fruit poisonous and wormwood.” The Hebrew noun לַעֲנָה (laanah) literally means “wormwood” (so KJV, ASV, NAB, NASB), but is used figuratively for anything extremely bitter, thus here “fruit poisonous and bitter.”

[29:23]  8 tn Heb “the anger and the wrath.” This construction is a hendiadys intended to intensify the emotion.
